Happy 4th!!

I'm thrilled to say that we are staying in town for the weekend, and oh how fun that will be! We have a few activities planned with baby girl to help her celebrate her first Independence Day! And it just so happens to be the hubby's favorite holiday. Is it sad that apparently this is news to me?? Not quite sure what it is about this day in particular that he loves so much, but maybe over a few summer cocktails, we'll find out!

Living Room :: Update Two

**The new furniture is officially on it's way!!! Well, sort of. The order has been placed, but it's coming in about four different shipments, with the important pieces shipping at the end of July! Have I mentioned before how excited I am?! After a few "talks" over dinner this past week with the hubby, we came to an agreement on the sofa and two club chairs. I'm going to see if I can't get crafty with the ottoman that we want. Ha- we'll see how that goes. 

Our floors are waiting. Yes, we taped out where it's all going...and somehow this little booger made it in the picture. She's excited too!

In other news, a package arrived at our door step yesterday with some wonderful goodies in it for LGC! While we were in the mountains for Memorial Day weekend, we came across a kids store that was having an amazing 50% off sale, so of course I couldn't pass up that great opportunity. Needless to say, baby girl walked out of there with some pretty good finds! We sent them home with DeeDee to take to her awesome girl that does monogramming, and below is the finished product. LOVE!!

No shame

....in admitting that I had a weak moment over the weekend. My Saturday started off with the most amazing facial I have had in a while- it was just what I needed! On my way back home though, I had to make a pit stop to pick up the last part to my sisters birthday gift....and right on my route was this sign....

I can't tell you the last time I had a Krispy Kreme doughnut. Maybe last year? Well, this is where the weak moment comes in to play. I would probably have to say that this has been my worst indulgence since having Lillian. There is just no excuse anymore for this behavior. Needless to say, I later walked in the house with a dozen of these bad boys...

Guess who is going to be working out EXTRA hard this week?

Deal of the Day

I've had my eye on this little number for a while now (in this color)....

I tried it on in Tampa last week just so I could figure out what size I was, that way when it went on sale, I could scoop it right up. Of course I would have loved to have walked out of the store with it right then and there, BUT....

Now that brings me to today. It's hot out, I'm kind of sick of sitting at home, so I said to baby girl, let's go to the mall and just window shop! And well naturally I HAD to venture into JCrew just to drool a little more. When one can't shop, she just trys on. And that is just what I did, only this time grabbing the above color, along with this one too...

And i think my heart skipped another beat. Especially since I'm rocking a nice burnt tan at the moment, I was really loving this pop of color! 

Okay, let me back up a bit. I picked up a pretty good check yesterday from a consignment store where I have sitting some of my old treasures. I of course thought this was the perfect opportunity to "treat" myself to something new. 

I walk up to the counter and he goes, "so this dress is actually on sale, and an additional 30% off!" I think he had to pick my mouth up off the floor, I was ecstatic! I even looked back at baby girl and said isn't this exciting? She gave me a big grin :) Yep- I'm training her young!!

 So out I walked carrying my JCrew bag feeling pretty darn good with my $70 savings!!

And to top of feeling good...I'm headed out shortly to partake in a little Thirsty Thursday action. It's been a hot few days here in the Carolina's.

Living Room :: Update One

I wish I were back here showing off the finished product of our living room re-do, but that's just plain wishful thinking! However, we have made progress. While I was back home in Tampa this past week, I took a visit to one of my favorite home stores Ballard Designs! My mom and I were wandering around, sitting on every sofa, and I finally spotted one that was just calling my name. She was lovely and OH so comfortable!! She's made with a nice layer of goose which may have something to do with it. Anyway- after spending some time enjoying it and developing a relationship, it was time to take some pictures and send along to the hubs...

See, isn't she delightful? Her appearance looks slightly messy, but no worries, we're gonna fix that with some yummy pillows I've got picked out! Apparently there are a few kinks that have to get worked out with the slipcovers we want, but that is top on the agenda for today. Thankfully I'm hosting a shower at my house at the end of July, and that just so happens to be my excuse with getting the hubs on board with this -quickly ;) And to my liking, he trusts my judgement since I've seen it and said "go for it". 

Awesome. 

I didn't take a picture of the club chair in the store, but we'll also be scooping up a couple of these...

And maybe even one of these, if not, something very similar...

There you have it, the furniture is picked, so at least we are moving in the right direction! More updates to follow...

Getaways

This past weekend, the hubs and I took a much needed vacation away! We've been through a lot since last September, and I think the time had finally come that we needed to have some "us" time. We looked at all different cities to venture to, but then when we started factoring in possible airfare, hotel, food, booze, etc...it started quickly adding up. While I for once was trying to be budget-friendly, I said lets scratch that and go somewhere closer to home. We both wanted to go somewhere on the water, and we haven't been to this destination in 3 years which is really hard to believe. We use to take trips here just the two of us back before we were even engaged and always had a blast together, so we figured it would be the perfect spot for us....OCRACOKE! What a wonderful time it was!! We got in lots of great beach time (came home like a lobster), played lots of paddle ball, read my entire stack of magazines, had some great meals, biked all around the island and bar hopped our way around the island. It was just perfect...

Now while this weekend was piggy-backing off of a whirlwind 4-day trip to Florida, I was missing my sweet baby girl who was left behind for it all. But none the less, I had an amazing time while there visiting my sweet mama, grandma, and one of my bestie's new baby! This little bit, Addie Paige, was a doll baby and I'm so glad I had the chance to meet and love on her!!

But I am happy to say that are travels have come to a hault for a bit, and we are in town for the next three weekends with absolutely ZERO plans and I can't wait!!! Hopefully this will give me some time to catch up on a few things that have been lingering over me. And being a better blogger just so happens to be one of them!

Dress Hunt...

Now that wedding season is upon us, we all know that it requires something other than your average uniform. And for me these days, that has become running shorts and my good 'ol trusty tees from Target! Not to worry, I have them in about every color so I'm not wearing the same shirt everyday covered in drool and spit up :) Oh- and don't let the running attire fool you, I'm lucky to make it to the gym once a week!

While I thought I would actually be "okay" on the dress front, that is hardly the case! Let's back up a bit. I got married in 2009, along with quite a few other friends which means I have lots of fun dresses from a years worth of events. However, in 2010 I had a baby, which means, I never got to wear any of those fun dresses from 2009. So here we are in 2011 and I'm thinking, this will be great, it'll be like wearing a brand new dress all over again considering they parted from my closet for a while. WRONG!! I mean, I heard that your body changes shape after a baby, but of course, didn't believe it. I thought, well, I am back at what I was pre-baby so we should be fine. WRONG AGAIN. UGH- these dresses look like straight up garbage bags on me. Just plain awful!!! It's hard to describe, and of course I'm going to spare any pictures. 

So I think we see where I'm going with this. It's time to go dress shopping folks!!! After catching up on many magazines while on our anniversary trip (I'll save that for another post), I found an article about "Rent The Runway". I have heard of it before, but never really thought it was legit until talking about it with my MIL. She actually has a friend whose daughter works for the company in NYC and raves all about it! That obviously twisted around my opinion. So I got to looking on the site, and couldn't believe when I actually came across a few dresses that I remember when they came out and absolutely loved!!! This was one of my favorites in particular....

Isn't it fabulous? I'm obsessed with the back detail! Naturally, I immediately begin plugging in some dates for my size, and to my dismay it is already "rented". Devastating. 

I guess this means the hunt is still on. I've got about 3-4 weeks before the first wedding event, so I better get my tail in gear here and hit up boutiques, the mall and every online site I have bookmarked!

I'm pretty sure that I need to get one of these STAT! And I'm also pretty sure that it's just June and I already have a "Christmas Wish List" running under notes on my phone. Pathetic I know. But it's the only way when I see things throughout the year that I like,  that I actually remember liking them (hey, I have a lot to distract me these days). Anyway- this will be pinned and saved for future reference because I promise, you will be seeing this bad boy attached around my neck (in orange) in the very near future.

Something that I don't think hurts to take two seconds to sit down and remember each and every day. 

And speaking of "Today", well, The Today Show...it's Meredith Vieira's last day. I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed her for the past 5 years, much more so than Katie. She has such a care free spirit that I feel really shines through the tv when watching her. I know, it probably sounds like I have this weird crush on her, but for the past 9 months this show greets me each and every morning with my cup of jo to get my day started! 

OH- and also speaking of "9 months"...this little nugget is 9 months old today. I mean seriously, where has the time gone? I think I say this every time another month passes! I can't believe we are in the final months before she's a year...tear! I love you sweet baby girl...even though Mommy is about to take you for your shots here in a bit, and I'm pretty sure your not going to quite feel that love for me.
