Headboards

It's almost hard to talk about, just because I can't believe how fast my baby girl is growing up, but the time is a coming for that baby girl to be moved into her 

"BIG GIRL ROOM"! 

Hubs and I are shooting towards November-ish which means it's time for this mama to get her interior decorator juices flowing. 

She is going to get moved into our guest room, so luckily we already have a few pieces to work with...for example, the bed. 

So lets start there.  

It's a queen bed (yes, I realize she is lucky and at the same time this could be disastrous).

Of course I want to get an upholstered headboard for her, which the hubs thinks a 2 year old doesn't need a headboard. 

I disagree, and not to worry, I'm very open about it. 

What he doesn't know yet is that he is getting solicited to make this so called "upholstered headboard" for baby girl. 

He might be able to say no to me, but he can't say no to his little peanut!

I found this chart below here that shows the different styles of headboards you could go with. 

Hello, talk about too many options. 

But if I had to pick, I would say we'd probably go with either the Grosvenor, Cleveland or York.

DIY :: Chalkboard Wall

Chalkboard walls are floating all around Pinterest, and obviously having a child now it seemed fitting to have one at the house.

We spotted our first one over at our good friends house (thanks for the idea, Julie!), the hubs and I instantly fell in love! 

I couldn't believe with how easily he jumped on board when I mentioned that we should put one of these up in the playroom for baby girl (and friends!). 

With all of this hot weather going on around here, it was the perfect Saturday night + Sunday afternoon project to start! 

I am beyond thrilled with how it turned out...

Fabulous Friday :: DIY edition

Earlier this week I decided to get a little crafty! 

We've had this table below for quite some time, and it's been living in our foyer. 

While I've liked it, I just thought it needed a little color. 

I first got the idea over here! 

I know I've mentioned before, but Julia has impeccable style and taste and when I saw how great one of her side tables turned out with just a couple bottles of spray paint, I made a mad dash to Home Depot! 

Now mind you I've had the paint sitting here since February, but finally got around to painting this bad boy, and I'm pretty thrilled with how it turned out! (it's not styled yet, but you get the drift)

And while I had the bottle out, I decided to spruce up this silhouette picture that my mother-in-law had done of baby girl, with a gold frame. 

It gave it a nice little pop that it needed.

My sis is in town visiting for the weekend, so we plan on having ourselves a good 'ol time!!

DIY :: Easter Banner

Easter is one of my favorite holidays, so I thought it would be fun to do an Easter craft with baby girl. 

I found these cute foam shaped eggs at Target for $5, and everything else I had. 

The eggs are suppose to spell something out, however, after starting to cut out letters 'being creative', I got frustrated and gave up. 

So we'll try again later this week!

DIY :: A look back

I'm sure I really don't need to say where I saw this idea at. 

Yes, Pinterest. 

After finally going to three different stores looking for the d-rings, I finally found some! So a couple weekends ago I sat down for all of the five minutes it took me to do this, and was quite pleased with how it turned out!

What you need :

Christmas cards (I just saved the picture ones)

3-ring hole punch

(2) D-rings

How to do :

Organize your photo cards based on cardstock and size

Hole punch them all

Slide them into the d-rings

Snap together

....and VOILA

Another super easy little project! 

I think it'll be fun to bring these back out in the upcoming years to see how much all of the kiddos have changed!!

DIY :: Holiday Style (Part II)

Here we are again...being crafty! Bet you didn't think I would be back here with another project, did ya?!

I found this next idea here, and it was easy peasy! 

All you need...

*mason jars

*black sandpaper (fine)

*hot glue gun

*strike anywhere matches

*candle (optional)

Somehow I managed to forget taking a few pictures in between so bare with me...

Start with the black sandpaper and cut into circles tracing the top of the seal...

Then take a hot glue gun, and glue about a 1/2" inside the circle all the way around and quickly place on seal. I turned mine all over and pressed hard to get it to stick (the first couple times it came right off)...

Once dry, place the ring back on the jar...

The almost finished product...

 Finished product with "Strike Anywhere" matches inside...

Again, super easy and a very practical gift :: spice it up and give with a candle! 

It's great because you can keep refilling the mason jar and it looks cute sitting out!

DIY :: Holiday Style (Part I)

I usually like to consider myself NON-crafty. It's not that I don't enjoy doing it, it just always seems to be the motivation to get creative that I find difficult. But that's where my new online bestie comes into play, Pinterest! I mean, I'm not sure what I ever did before this site ever existed. Actually, yes I do. I didn't spend as much time online (well, sorta). 

I knew I wanted to give a few fun gifts this year, so I got crafty. I found this idea here, but that's okay, I still did all the work. 

 Invitation ornament ball....

First, you start with the invite, cutting it in strips where it separates all the important info...

Thankfully I had this cutter from my very short lived scrap-booking days...

(keeping an eye on boo boo over there in the corner)

Next, wrap all of your strips around a pen or pencil...

And start placing them inside the ornament...

My little helper finally woke up...

And...
Now for the final product...

I love that you see their names, date and location all peaking through!

I thought she turned out rather pretty!
