Headboards

It's almost hard to talk about, just because I can't believe how fast my baby girl is growing up, but the time is a coming for that baby girl to be moved into her
"BIG GIRL ROOM"!

Hubs and I are shooting towards November-ish which means it's time for this mama to get her interior decorator juices flowing.

She is going to get moved into our guest room, so luckily we already have a few pieces to work with...for example, the bed.

So lets start there.

It's a queen bed (yes, I realize she is lucky and at the same time this could be disastrous).

Of course I want to get an upholstered headboard for her, which the hubs thinks a 2 year old doesn't need a headboard.

I disagree, and not to worry, I'm very open about it.

What he doesn't know yet is that he is getting solicited to make this so called "upholstered headboard" for baby girl.

He might be able to say no to me, but he can't say no to his little peanut!

I found this chart below here that shows the different styles of headboards you could go with.
Hello, talk about too many options.

But if I had to pick, I would say we'd probably go with either the Grosvenor, Cleveland or York.

Here is some inspiration behind what I'm hoping can be created for her room...

I love them all!!

I'm sure this project is going to be in the works for a while, but I'll be sure to post scenes along the way!

DIY :: Chalkboard Wall

Chalkboard walls are floating all around Pinterest, and obviously having a child now it seemed fitting to have one at the house.

We spotted our first one over at our good friends house (thanks for the idea, Julie!), the hubs and I instantly fell in love!

I couldn't believe with how easily he jumped on board when I mentioned that we should put one of these up in the playroom for baby girl (and friends!).

With all of this hot weather going on around here, it was the perfect Saturday night + Sunday afternoon project to start!

I am beyond thrilled with how it turned out...

Voila!!

I'm pretty sure this little one is going to love it!!

Fabulous Friday :: DIY edition

Earlier this week I decided to get a little crafty!

We've had this table below for quite some time, and it's been living in our foyer.

While I've liked it, I just thought it needed a little color.

I first got the idea over here

I know I've mentioned before, but Julia has impeccable style and taste and when I saw how great one of her side tables turned out with just a couple bottles of spray paint, I made a mad dash to Home Depot!

Now mind you I've had the paint sitting here since February, but finally got around to painting this bad boy, and I'm pretty thrilled with how it turned out! (it's not styled yet, but you get the drift)

And while I had the bottle out, I decided to spruce up this silhouette picture that my mother-in-law had done of baby girl, with a gold frame.
It gave it a nice little pop that it needed.

My sis is in town visiting for the weekend, so we plan on having ourselves a good 'ol time!!

TGIF!

Pillows

Here I am again.

On the hunt for more pillows.

This is like a never ending battle for me. Why you ask, because the options are endless!!

While I am super happy with what we have in our living room, I still feel like it's lacking something.

So my answer. Why not add a couple more pillows to the mix.

I mean, you can never have too many, right?

Here's what I'm working with
(except now the ikat pillows are sitting on our two club chairs, so it's just the monogrammed ones...hence the needing more color)

Here are the options I'm looking at...

2

3

4

5

Whatcha think?

Right now 3 and 5 are the front-runners!

** stay tuned for another pillow post soon, because it's getting close to our bedding revamp and this is the final piece i need help with **

It's the small things

We aren't moving.

We aren't renovating.

BUT, if we did by chance decide to stay where we are and expand our little abode, these are just a few ideas burning a hole in my decorating head.

i mean, half of these ideas are GENIUS!!

Let me mention that I will actually be really sad if we do in fact decide to move, lots of fun memories lie here.

But until then, we'll enjoy our pretty new roof we had put on last month and the new windows we had installed last week.

Definitely not the "fun" things a homeowner wants to do, however necessities.

I'm not going to lie though, I'm pretty stoked about the new windows. They are SO clean and I can actually open them without having to bang on them with all my might.

We've got one last project to complete on the house that we're both pumped about, but we'll save that for another post.

Here's a sneak peak into what's gonna go down...

Can you take a guess??

Office Essentials

We have an office.

It's in our basement.

On the unfinished side.

So you can only imagine how attractive it is, right?!

HARDLY.

The hubs often asks me why my desk is such a disaster, or to step it up a notch, he leaves me notes (typed notes in pink at that) that he has strategically set up on the area that is most attrocious.

Funny guy, isn't he?!

I often sit and wonder what it would be like if I had a real office, and how I might like to decorate that wonderful space. Then perhaps my current situation wouldn't look so appalling.

Here are a few offices that will inspire me when the time does come...

I also have this slight obsession for with office supplies. Every time I peruse Target I find myself aimlessly wandering through that one section, always managing to throw something in my cart that clearly I really don't need.

But these are a few things I wouldn't mind sitting on that pretty little desk 'o mine...
