And then there was one...

Does this face.....

Look like he would do something like this...

YEP! And it's all because of....

                                                           This precious face!!

I do love Dukie, however, I do not love him when he decides to eat Mommy's nice pair of Tory's!! Now mind you, this dog has NEVER done this, not even when he was a puppy at his worst. So needless to say, he's having a slight adjustment issue with the newest addition.

But then you see them like this...

and it just melts your heart! Dukie doesn't know it yet, but Lills is his new BFF!!

Happy Monday!

Classic Sweet Potato Casserole

If you are a fan of sweet potatoes, then you will LOVE this recipe, courtesy of Southern Living. We had it for Thanksgiving, and it was divine!

You will need:
4.5 lbs of sweet potatoes
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup milk
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 cups cornflakes cereal, crushed
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp, butter, melted
1 1/2 cups mini marshmellows

Directions:1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake sweet potatoes at 400 degrees for 1 hour or until tender. Let stand until cool to touch (about 20 mins); peel and mash. Reduce oven temp to 350.

2.) Beat mashed sweet potatoes, granulated sugar, and next 5 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Spoon potato mixture into greased 11x7 baking dish.

3.) Combine cornflakes and next 3 ingredients in a small bowl. Sprinkle over casserole in diagonal rows 2" apart.

4.) Bake at 350 for 30 mins. Remove from oven; let stand 10 mins. Sprinkle marshmallows in alternate rows between cornflake mixture; bake 10 mins. Let stand about another 10 before serving.

**Serves 6-8

Bon Appetit!

Poor baby

Literally. Poor little Lillian has had it rough the past week. We drove to Atlanta this past Tuesday for a work training I had (more on that a little later), and somewhere between leaving Raleigh and getting to our destination, she caught a terrible stomach bug. My sis watched her for the two days I was in training, and I knew it wasn't looking good when she was basically texting me every hour telling me that her diaper was having to get changed (I'll spare the details). And then, on day two when it was still just as bad and she was not seeming herself, I knew something wasn't right. Needless to say we skipped the Peds office there and went straight to the Children's Hospital. At this point, my biggest fear was her getting dehydrated. To make a long story short, she was tested and we found out yesterday that she tested positive for Salmonella. What?!?  We have NO idea how she caught it, and it will probably remain a mystery. So from here on out, we are going to become big time GERMAPHOBES!!! The first thing I will be saying to anyone that comes near my baby is, please wash your hands :)
Unfortunately at this point, there is not a whole lot we can do. She will get tested for it again in another week and then we will go from there. Let's just say that I got my first glimpse of what it is like to have a child who is sick, and had the living crap scared out of me. I love her to pieces and am hoping for a full recovery soon.

Giving Thanks

There is so much that I have to be thankful for this year! We started the new year off finding out that we were going to have a baby, Matt and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary (we made it!! :)), we took two amazing vacations to Telluride, CO and Cape Cod, Mass, we welcomed our sweet little angel into our lives in September, my grandmother got to meet her great granddaughter for the first time, all of our family is healthy and we have some of the most amazing friendships...I could go on and on. But that right there is enough for me to celebrate this year and take a seat back to reflect on what I have to be thankful for in my life. We have been blessed with an incredible amount this year and I count my blessings each day, especially when I look at our little miracle we brought into this world.

Holiday Promo (Explanation)

So on Thursday you might have noticed I blogged a "random" blog about Shutterfly. Well, a dear friend passed on to me this special promo that they were running if you made a particular post following their guidelines...you could have the chance to win 50, yes folks, 50 FREE holiday cards. So naturally, I blogged! And while the hubby and I were on our first big date night out last night (thanks to this dear friend above who watched our little angel), I recieved the email stating that I had indeed won the 50 FREE cards! This made my night, sorry hubs :) Originally we weren't going to be able to send out Christmas cards this year, but now we can. Boy oh boy, the things I get excited about!

Here are just a few of the designs I'm thinking about going with. What's your favorite?!

Holiday Cards (promo)

For the past few years, I have been getting my holiday cards via Shutterfly and have been extremely pleased! They have an abundance of designs to choose from and I've never had a problem picking out just the right one for our family! I love that they have cards of all different sizes, and ones that you can add multiple pictures to! I think I've already spotted just the one we are going to use! This year however will be more special as we have a new addition to our family that we can't wait to show off! We've already had our picture taken and picked out for our 2010 holiday card and are excited to share them with the ones we love. Not only do we have our 3 year old fur baby with us, but also our 2 month old baby girl...and we've got them caputured together which just melts our heart everytime we look at it :) They are best buds and don't even know it yet!

Below are just some of my favorite items from Shutterfly...check 'em out! The wall calendars make great gifts for the holidays!!

Well, there is always a first for everything. While I love browsing on EBay and purchasing, I have never sold anything on there. Let me know if you are interested in any of the selling items below. They are all SOLD AS IS, with NO returns. Feel free to let me know if you would like for me to send you more pictures or information on the items, or if you know of someone that might be interested! And stay tuned for more items to be posted.

The Painted Peacock

While on Facebook last night, I saw that I had a "Page Suggestion" sitting in my inbox. It was for this lovely site...The Painted Peacock. I think I just spotted furniture heaven! Now while some talented people (for example, my friend Kelly who loves all this design jazz. check out her blog and handy craftsmanship HERE) may say, "Oh, I can do make that", I on the other hand cannot. I prefer to enjoy the likes of other peoples hard work and enjoy them in my home :) I am sure that if I took the time (but hey, who has that these days with a newbon around) I could whip something up like this, but I'll save that for another rainy day. But, over at TPP, I am absolutely loving her pop of color and vintage look that she is restoring. And not to mention, athe prices are very attractive!! I'd kill to have some of these pieces below in my home, and while maybe in a another lifetime I would, fortunately diapers and wipes seem to take the cake over these pieces these days.

Indulge

Going to be short, as it is another fun filled weekend with visitors in town! Today we're off to the Junior League Shopping Spree. If you live in Raleigh, GO!! It's filled with amazing vendors from all 50 states, and they have fabulous buys...too good to pass up especially with Christmas just around the corner!

Then Saturday we are off to the State Fair!! I am most excited about this. First, the people watching is awesome....and Two, I'm obsessed with funnel cakes, and yes, I will pay the admission fee just to walk in and indulge in a funnel cake. Not gonna lie that it is so worth it, and if I'm not feeling super guilty at that point, I might pop by the Wisconsin cheese stand for some fried cheese.

Are you hungry yet??
Happy Friday

I'm dying...

over JCrew's latest catalog! I mean, every time it comes in the mail, I drool over each page...BUT this time I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I am seriously fancing every piece. Such ashame that my JCrew card got revoked. I mean, what's the fun in that?

Rainy Days...

Are the best kind of days, don't ya think?! As I sit here listening to the rain fall outside my window, with my pumpkin spice flavored coffee in hand, watching Kathie Lee and Hoda (my new fave morning show!) and watching my little munchkin sleep in her bouncy...I find myself dreaming. Dreaming about these lovelies (is that a word?!) and wishing I could be decked out in them when I have to brave the storm later today.
So, what's your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? I think you know what mine is ;)
Happy Thursday
XO

Everyone needs a pair of Hunter Rain Boots (I'm still waiting for mine)...

and a Burberry Trench Coat (this too!)...

and a Vintage Umbrella...

and for those more casual days, a good North Face jacket will do just the trick...

Pears & Bears

While visiting one of my favorite blogs, Fly Through Our Window, I stumbled across this adorable site with adorable clothes. Each month Darby at FTOW features different sponsers, and Kayce Hughes happens to be one of those for the month of October. Go ahead and take a peak at what this site has in store...happy shopping!

Don't you just love this navy corduroy dress below? First of all, it is great for this amazing fall weather we are having. And second, the look would be complete with a little skinny belt, and a great pair of either brown riding boots or cowboy boots. Terribly want to purchse!

This is such a classic and crisp looking white top, I love!! Would look great paired with a pair of black leggings, or a pair of skinny jeans and ballet flats (or TOMS)!

And well, the children's line is PRESH!! One sampling is below, but check out the rest here!!

It's a good thing my little one can hardly fit in her 0-3 month clothing because it's too big, otherwise I would be all over this site (although I'm pretty sure the hubs would not approve) :)
