Race Recap

If you read Friday's post, then you know what I was up to this weekend.

Whoa.

My legs are majorly paying for it today!

I was hoping to finish in an hour, but managed to pull off an hour and five mins, so I can't complain.

But, I did it and now I can cross running a 10K off my list.

I've managed to run a couple half-marathons and a lot of 5K's, but never a 10, and I'm sure it won't be my last.

Although I think I have finally learned my lesson after this one...I need to train!!

I'm pretty sure my face says it all in some of these as I'm coming across the finish line.

You can bet that I indulged in some pool time + a few cocktails + frozen yogurt topped with yummy goodies afterwards!

Keep Running

Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it."

This is what I will be repeatedly telling myself bright and early Sunday morning.

While I've sort of been feeling like a slug lately, I decided to randomly sign up for the Midtown Race Series 10K this weekend!

Here we go again because I have yet to train a lick for it and I'm pretty out of shape!

However I'm hoping that yet once again my adrenaline will pull through for me and get me through this 6.2 mile stretch through the hills of Raleigh.

Wish me luck...I think I'm going to need it.

Happy Friday!!

Healthy Habits

Hubs and I have decided to take on a mission

and that is EATING HEALTHY!!

On my birthday this year I got hit with the stomach bug (AGAIN), and for some reason just had a hard time shaking it this time.

And after days of bad stomach aches and basically feeling blah, it was enough to get me motivated to change some of my habits.

As of lately, I have stopped taking vitamins, stopped eating decent meals (or just a meal for that matter) and the exercising had tapered off.

I spent a good bit of my Sunday scouring the inter-webs (aka Pinterest) looking for some healthy ideas, making the grocery list and getting creative with our weekly dinner menu.

This is just a sampling of what I came home from the store with

Tons and tons of fruit + kale + spinach +fixings for healthy salads + vitamins

And here's an idea of some things we're going to try...

Veggie Dip + fresh veggies (substitute sour cream for greek yogurt)
Greek Yogurt + Ranch packet mixed together

recipe found here

Green Monster smoothie : after

We now have no square inch of free space in our fridge.
It is filled with bowls and bowls of arugula and about 8 tupperware containers filled with cut-up easy to grab fresh fruit and veggies!

Here's to hoping we notice a difference...soon!!
