FREE

Isn't this cute?

I thought so! It's the Lilly Pulitzer "Minnie Zinny". I recall seeing this at the store and thinking how adorable it would look on the little one, however, $58 for a summer romper...not something I could justify to myself OR more importantly, the husband.

Let's fast forward to this past weekend...(Speaking of weekend, lots to share and recap, but we'll get to that later this week). While up in the hubs hometown, I had to make my usual stop at the local Lord & Taylor. And I know I've mentioned how fabulous this store is.

Well it just got even MORE fabulous. As I was browsing their clearance racks, I spotted the Minnie Zinny under size 3. It might not have been my preference to shop for year 2013 just yet, but I thought why not scan this and just see how much it was marked down to. Next thing I know, $11.59 (to be exact) is what popped up. I started smiling. Then I started smiling even more knowing that my mother-in-law had given us a few $15 off coupons to use.

So yes, I think you what's about to come next.
I got this fun romper for FREE!!!!
I walked out technically loosing out on $3, but not something I lost sleep over!

Oh happy day!

Goodies for the home

Earlier this week, Mama had a free afternoon! Now while I did actually have important things to do, like a doctor appointment, I also had some time to run errands. Don't get me wrong, I adore having my sidekick with me, however, sometimes it is nice to just quickly run in somewhere.
One place on my infamous "lists", was Home Goods. I feel like every time I've gone in recently I haven't really spotted anything that I had to have! I love this store though. And I especially love this store when you hit it at the right time and they have stocked shelves. Did I walk out with anything? No- I was good like that. But I did manage to snag a couple pictures of a few items that you may eventually seen in my house....

{ This tray would look lovely on top of our ottoman, that we don't have yet :) }

{ Love these chairs, and think they would look quite nice possibly painted, with geometric bold fabric cushions }

{ On the hunt for a mirror to put in our newly arranged bedroom }

{ Oh chairs, how I love thee! The legs definitely need a paint job, but otherwise, perfection }

Newest Additions

Tomorrow we say goodbye to these guys...

And today, we welcomed these babies into our house...

I swear it was like Christmas morning for me! Our previous washer & dryer were left in the house back when we bought it. They're old. Like old as in the exact same ones my Mom had when were growing up. Now, they were Maytags which is why they held up so long - it's a oldie, but goodie! But it was time to finally part ways with them. The washer still worked, but the dryer was on its way out. And with as much laundry as this family does, it's essential to have one that works properly! We purchased them on Saturday and I figured I would just throw the old ones up on Craig's List for 24 hours and see if we had any luck. Sure enough I got a few emails, and someone came by Sunday morning and bought them right on the spot.
I'm so excited about our newest pair down in the basement, that I actually can't wait to go and do some laundry!! Now I just need to see if hubs can maybe build me some time of workspace to go next to it.

Oh- and while we were on our Lowe's shopping spree, we also came home with one of these guys...

the Dyson Animal!
We came right home and got to using this new toy and could NOT believe how much dog hair it had picked up, that clearly our old one had not been. Mind you we had just cleaned that morning, so it was almost gross to see what has not been getting picked up this entire time. Having a Lab in the house, and knowing we will forever have one, this was an investment of a lifetime!!

We obviously had an expensive weekend, so looks like we'll be laying low for a bit ;)

Change is coming...

to Lemon Petals!! It's in the process of getting a makeover- and I can't wait!! I just realized this morning that it has been almost two years since I entered the blogosphere, so why not celebrate!!

Stay Tuned for the new and improved!

Until then....

Happy Friday!!

Oreo Balls

This past weekend A couple weeks ago, we hosted a baby shower for our sweet friend Courtney! She is due next month with her second baby girl. We are so excited for them and their newest addition, Molly Stuart!

While prepping the menu, I knew that I wanted to try and tackle these Oreo Balls I keep seeing everywhere. I mean, how hard can they be, right? HA!!!!  Of course I had envisioned in my head what they would look like (cute white ones with pink sprinkles) and well,  I wouldn't say they were quite up to par with what I was expecting.

Let's start with what you need...

1 package of Oreos, crumbled finely
1 package of cream cheese, softened
1 package (8 bars) of Bakers white chocolate

Directions:
Mix cream cheese and crushed Oreos together in bowl
Once mixed, roll into 1" balls
(HINT: put the Oreo balls in the fridge for a few hours before attempting the next step, otherwise you will have a messy disaster)
Dip the Oreo balls in melted chocolate....

BUT...be sure not to BURN the chocolate like I did. Seriously- I mean who burns chocolate?? Apparently this girl! Ugh- so of course it's the night before the shower and I'm having to run out to multiple grocery stores because believe it or not, they were sold out of white chocolate.

Needless to say, what was supposed to be an easy attempt at Oreo Balls just did not happen.

However, they were yummy!

I forgot to take a picture of the final product, so here they are (center rack) in all their glory alongside the pretty and delicious lemon bars.

Oh Todd...

Well, this is a late recap. But hey, this family has had a lot going on lately. I've got about five "draft posts" that are waiting to be finished. So my goal - is for you to have a new post to read for the next five days!
 A couple weeks ago, we (baby girl and I) went on an impromptu trip to Todd, NC. Now, for those that have never been before, I highly recommend popping through this quaint little place hidden in the North Carolina mountains. It was heavenly. Before I continue though, let me mention that there were 5 adults and 6 kids that took this little trip! One might immediately think chaos, since all the kiddos were under the age of 5, however, not the case. They were all "angels" and kept us all well entertained for the three days we were there...even in the car, which was the most fun (HA!!!).
I'll let the pictures do the talking, but let me just mention one thing. All along the town there is a river that flows north. And on this river were lots of folks floating in tubes with beverages in hand. Tubing is a favorite pastime of mine, so the second this was spotted, I wanted to hop right on out of my car and plop myself in one of those cozy little tubes and float on....

Special Delivery

Yes indeed it was....

Lills approves!!!

These beauties surprisingly greeted us today! Now, let me know first share with you a bit of background on the delivery status I have been receiving for over a month now. They were originally suppose to ship around July 17th. That didn't happen. Then they were suppose to ship on August 5th, and then that date got moved to August 29th. I was NOT thrilled when I received that last notification, so I picked up the phone and gave Ballard Design a nice little phone call. I'd like to think that my disappointment and possible rudeness on the phone got through to them, because I got a delightful phone call yesterday morning while in Target. It was the trucking company calling to schedule our delivery. I immediately called right back to make sure it was the right furniture, and after doing a little research, IT WAS!!!! :) So when the woman said, "How does tomorrow sound", I of course jumped and said "sounds great"!
Now it might be a few days before I get back to you with the almost finished product (we're still on the great hunt for pillows)!
Until then, I will be ironing and ironing and ironing slipcovers! Yes, this one above will be getting removed b/c it looks too sloppy for its debut.

Back soon!
